Moving

Oh boy, where to begin.  Moving is such a necessary pain in the you know what.  Packing, sorting, throwing away, donating, and finding items that you had forgotten about.  This move is going good….so far.  I am been throwing a lot away and have a very large donation pile going.  Partially because I want to “downsize” but I also have to. I am moving out of a 4100 square foot home to a 1400 square foot town home.  Trust me I am not complaining, it is a good thing.  I am living in faculty/staff housing on the California State University, Monterey Bay campus…yes you read that right…Monterey Bay.

From what all of my friends who are Cali residents say, I couldn’t have picked a better location and school to go to.  Which after visiting twice in the last three weeks I would have to agree.  My daughter Madi and I went up there to look at places to live (we liked the one I am moving into) and spent the day having some fun.  One last mini vacation for dad and daughter since she is moving in with her mom (that is another topic for later).  We went to the Monterey Aquarium (which I am now a member of), shopping on Cannery Row, had dinner at Bubba Gump’s Shrimpin restaurant, and went on a whale watching tour (you should see my pictures on fb).  All in all, it was a lot of fun!

But back to packing…what started the idea for this post is when I was cleaning and packing I found pictures that my step kids and my kids made for my now ex-wife at our first year anniversary.  It brought back a lot of memories and feelings.  I had to spend some time to process everything I was seeing and feeling…but as I’ve often said God is moving me for a reason…to get me out of Grand Junction.  I will miss it and miss all the great friends I have here.  It will be hard, but it is good to be connected with all of them through facebook.

Four days and counting before I move…
